after crescent city, we continued south down the 101 to santa rosa (thats where we are now). santa rosa is a bit inland and known for its amazing wineries. were about to meet up with elainas professor who lives here and hopefully drink some wonderful wine. we decided to drink all the wine. no tasting and spitting it out.
Note: weve seen 4 bears on this trip. carries mom called us yesterday and informed us that a man was just mauled to death by a bear in Yellowstone-the first time this has happened since 1986. Feeling humbled by this.
after saying goodbye to portland friends, we packed up the car once again and headed for cali. After a stop at kmart to buy/change into new underwear and tshirts (again, we haven’t done laundry), and 6 hours of beautiful winding roads, we we were in the redwood forest and arrived at our campsite in crescent city, california. here, we ate our first fresh-seafood dinner, had a campsite on the beach, and sadly, enjoyed our last bonfire of the trip (no campfires allowed in arizona).
